Brian and I were married on a Friday the 13th in 1990, in Boise, ID. Why Boise? It's a long story considering we are both from Chicago - ask us if you really want to know. We met at Loyola University in Chicago at an InterVarsity Christian Fellowship youth group. He is my best friend and allows me to be the best me I can be. And there is a bonus, he can fix anything electric -- cars, computers, jets. . . What a great combination for a husband. Recently he has been on a uber health kick and taken up the drums.  He is in two bands: church, The Gathering and does something I don't understand with servers at Advent Software.

My mom is a R. N. at the Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. She has worked in Pediatric Oncology for the last 20 years or so and at Loyola for over 40 years. She is an awesome cake decorator, even made my wedding cake. She is an even better mom. Her latest endeavor is golf and being a grandma.

My dad is an independent financial consultant, guitar player, and now works for IDOT, not necessarily in that order.  Our home has a fire escape plan.  Should fire strike,  each member has their assigned guitar to carry out of the house.  He is also a serious Beatles fan, you'll have to check out the pilgrimage we made to Liverpool.

Veronica & Alvaro Rodriguez
My sister is amazing! We are totally opposite but I talk to her every day. That is probably why I love her so much, she can do all the things I'm not good at. If you don't know her, you'll want to meet her because she has the biggest heart and a wild personality and now she has a baby!  Crazy combination! She has a Masters Degree in Higher Education and currently is a program coordinator at University of Illinois at Chicago.  She advises the student funding committee and the Greek organizations.  She is also very active (National President) with her Hispanic Sorority Gamma Phi Omega  She married Alvaro on October 22, 2005 and they added DJ to the family October 12, 2006.

Maj. Helen Heinrich, Ret'd.
My Great-aunt Helen died in February 2002 at the age of 89 years old.  She lived at St. Joseph's home in Paletine, IL. She was a retired army nurse and traveled and lived all over the world.  Until her stroke in 1991, she was always on the go, doing a million things at once and still traveling all over the world. Her last few excursions were to Medjugorje. She had accumulated enough frequent flyer miles with Catholic Charities to get to drive the Pope around in the Vatican mobile! It had been hard for her to lose that freedom.  Despite her vegetative state in the last few year of her life, the nuns said they felt she ministered to them more than they ever did to her.  Here are some photos from her funeral.  It was a great service!

Our life would not be the same without Jack & Huey.  Our Guide Dog, Bermuda, now lives with Penny.  Read the 2001 & 2002 Christmas letter for Bermuda's story and the extra dog photos.  Now it is just our cats.  Jack is rather quiet and mellow and Huey gets into all the trouble.  He opens cabinets and eats the food and brings his toys to bed at 2am expecting you to throw them for a quick game of fetch. Check out the cat's page with his video opening his jar of cat treats.   Huey has had some heart murmur problems that do not seem to be life threatening but did give us quite a scare.  In December 2003 he was diagnosed with asthma and needs an inhaler.   Jack and Huey continue to provide us with so much joy and humor.
The Bradley's
When Brian and I moved out to California in 1993, we were thousands of miles away from our families.  The following year Jackie Bradley was my camp nurse and the rest is history.  The entire Bradley family and their extended friends have taken us in.  It is where we spend our holidays, who we laugh with in the good times and cry with in the sad times.  The beginning of 2006 saw Nana (Tekla Ward - center on left photo) grow increasingly weaker and at the end of the year she died.  She held on long enough to spend one last Christmas with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  While she will be missed greatly, everyone is thankful she went so peacefully.  For more Bradley family info: Toby | Patrick | Tekla Ward
